I’ve always had a creative streak, and prop and set design has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. So when the opportunity came to join the talented crew at Where Poppies Grow, I jumped at the chance.

What I enjoy most is the sheer variety of the work. From making highly detailed, historically accurate First World War props to the more macabre task of recreating fallen comrades and “Dobby” the horse; from sci-fi space films to medieval puppetry, and even the occasional acting role, no two days are ever the same, and that’s why I like it.

I studied Product Design and Digital Modelling at Liverpool John Moores University after completing a Foundation Year at Cumbria Institute of the Arts. Both experiences broadened my skill set and reinforced my passion for making, designing and bringing ideas to life.

Outside the studio, I’m usually making equally obscure objects or travelling whenever I get the chance. I’ve been fortunate enough to tick off all seven continents from my bucket list, although I still maintain that the best adventures usually start in a workshop.

It’s only cardboard until someone believes it’s steel.
