My route into filmmaking has been a little unconventional. Before joining the studio, I spent 22 years serving in the Armed Forces, followed by three years with the Territorial Army. I then enjoyed a 19-year career in the nuclear industry as a Facility Manager.

Retirement gave me the chance to spend time volunteering with organisations that mean a great deal to me, including Cumbria Community Transport, Rescue Racehorses and Carlisle Hospice.

I first became involved with Where Poppies Grow through my son, Andrew. What started as helping out has become four years of working on an incredible variety of projects, from building sets and creating props to solving whatever challenges each production throws our way. One of the things I enjoy most is the people. The studio is full of talented, generous and passionate individuals who are always willing to share their knowledge, and I’ve learned an enormous amount from them. Every project is different, every day brings a new challenge, and it’s a real pleasure to play a small part in helping bring stories to life.
